PEBBLE MEDAL

STUDENT ART MEDAL, BRITISH ART MEDAL COLLECTION

The medal takes it  shape from a pebble, found on Rotherslade Beach, in south Wales. We pick pebbles up from the beach and hold them tight in our hand, when the pebble fits really nicely it's hard to put it back on the beach, and you walk home with heavy pockets of smooth rocks. These pebbles were cast and made into wax, to cast into bronze through the lost wax technique. The Pebble Medal diverts from the idea that a medal is an award, it is not for anything in particular other than holding it in your hand.

Until the cold metal warms, from the map of your palm, to the belly you feed, to the smile that reaches the hairs on your cheek.
