This brick has Pete Davis' photo from Lower Splott 1969-1972 transferred onto it. The photograph taken of Lower Splott is from Davis's archive photo series of Cardiff, 'City Stories'. The photographs of Lower Splott were taken during a turbulent time which saw the slow destruction of a neighbourhood and loss of community, jobs and house's . I'd like to of thought these bricks might have built the houses in Lower Splott but I have no idea whether they did or not, but the connections from the neighbourhood to the beach are undeniable. The bricks on this beach are telling a story of human civilisation and their intervention on the landscape. The brick amongst the rubble adds another part to the story.
